The beginners driving lesson in Nottingham.

Your first driving lesson we will be a nice and steady introduction, you will learn about all the controls in the car and you will have your first go at moving off and stopping.
What a feeling it will be! Don’t worry everybody is nervous on that first lesson.

We get asked a lot;

How many lessons will I need?

The national average according to the Driving standards agency is 45 hours of lessons, plus 22 hours of private practising. So we normally find that the average is 40-50 hours of lessons until someone is ready for their driving test, but remember this is an average and everyone is different. our lessons are structured to suit the individual. We have no desire to keep a customer paying for lessons that they don’t need. Our aim is to get to our students ready for their test as quickly as possible. We are proud of our good reputation we have built up in the community.

What are your prices?

Many driving schools hide their prices or have a complicated pricing structure.

You will find our prices are easy to understand and are a set rate.

We don’t claim to offer the cheapest driving lessons, but our aims are to offer value for money and effective teaching tailor-made to the individual. Click here to see our current price list.

Do you mostly teach 17 year olds?

Far from it, no matter what stage of life, its never too late to take up the challenge of learning to drive. Its our pleasure to teach all age ranges.

I’m a Nottingham university student and want driving lessons. can you pick up from campus?

Yes, no problem. we can pick up from any campus for Nottingham and Trent university students. we can arrange lessons to suit your timetable.

Jim is an outstanding driving instructor and I’m very grateful to have found him and Notts Driving School through a friend. He’s incredibly patient and creates a learning environment which is perfect for learner drivers. I left my previous instructor for Jim, who has played a crucial role in helping me pass my practical test in a short space of time. Jim is unbelievably patient and very constructive with his feedback rather than getting agitated or being aggressive. Rather than telling you off for a mistake, he let’s you know what you did right and then tells you exactly where you went wrong, explaining it in detail. He has a front and rear view camera installed in his car that is constantly recording, which makes learning from your mistakes through watching the footage so much easier. Furthermore, Jim goes above and beyond to make sure you are ready for the road post-passing your practical test. I remember we went on a drive to Newark, where I learned how to use the dual carriageway, even though it is something that isn’t assessed on the test. That goes to show how committed he is to ensuring you’re a good driver, beyond the minimum of getting you ready for passing the practical test. I honestly couldn’t recommend Jim enough. Top class guy and an amazing instructor that has helped me improve so much within the 3-4 months I’ve been taking lessons with him.

Jim is a true master of his craft. He is professional, patient, and personable. I felt incredibly safe and respected under his instruction. His explanations are clear, he is excellent at diagnosing areas of improvement, and he gives you the confidence to do better. I particularly appreciated his use of technology. He uses a mobile app to help you keep track of your progress, and he uses a tablet during lessons to help explain practical driving theory. He also always gets the basics right: he is punctual, he maintains his car in good condition, and he keeps to his diary schedule. I’m glad that I learnt to drive with Jim. Pass plus

If you want to further develop your driving skills and build up your confidence on the road, then Pass Plus training is for you.

Pass Plus Driving Training in Nottingham

The training lasts for a minimum of 6 hours. This can be undertaken on one day or over a number of lessons.

There are six modules within the training,

1. Town driving in Nottingham City and surrounding Cities
2. All weather driving conditions
3. Rural roads
4. Night driving in Nottingham and surrounding Cities for experience
5. Dual carriageways
6. Motorway tuition
